The Association Of Professional Healers (APH) was founded by Marjorie Sutton BA in 1993 as a charitable organisation whose objectives are to help those who are ill and to seek grants for research into healing, working with universities, physicists and paediatricians. Marjorie has worked extensively in nursing and counselling and has developed a Healer Development Course that includes sensitivity to the needs of sick people beyond the simple act of healing. She has been a natural healer from birth and has had a private practice for 20 years.
Members may have their own belief systems including agnostic but the main requisite is that they are genuine regarding their healing abilities as healing is basically about energy not religion.
The APH recognised at the onset that the way forward in Care was through Integrated Medicine and Patient Choice. Later in the 90's the Association was asked to be on the NHS Database and the Mental Health Database and in 2005 the APH became an Associate of the NHSTrust Associates whose aims and objectives are to further Patient Choice and Integrated Medicine. Meetings are held in the House of Lords annually to promote this work, sponsored by Earl Howe and is run by very senior medical people and attended by heads of Complementary and Statutory organisations.
Patient Choice is now a fact and Integrated Medicine is the next big step.
Now the first step has been achieved the APH will accept qualified therapists also as members.
